Caroline Gray makes sculptural, non-functional vessels in earthenware and terra sigillata. First used in Roman Samian ware prior to the invention of glaze, terra sigillata is a refined clay slip with a silky sheen or dry matte surface which reveals every subtle textural detail of the making process.
